Benteke physio gives injury update on Villa striker and it is good news

Christian Benteke should play for the club again before the end of the month.

Aston Villa have started the season well, considering that many a pundit predicted a poor campaign for Paul Lambert's men. However they have made some shrewd additions and in Lambert and Roy Keane they have a management duo to be reckoned with.

But they will also be looking forward to the return of their star player, Christian Benteke.

He has been out of action since March after rupturing his Achilles tendon. The striker, who has scored 34 goals in 67 games for the club, has been sorely missed by the club in his six months out of action. He also missed the World Cup with the ailment - a personal heartache for the striker.

But he is back in training and Villa fans are beginning to get excited about the fact he might be back in action for Aston Villa soon. Some are even suggesting that he might be on the bench this weekend for the game against Liverpool tomorrow.

That game may have come too soon for the player. But his personal physio has announced that will be back in action before the end of the month.

Lieven Maesschalk has been speaking to Belgian site Sporza about the progress of Benteke:

"Over the past five months, Christian worked very hard. His rehabilitation was done in phases. Alternately, he worked at the club and in my practice. The hard work has paid off because Christian is now finally back to his club Aston Villa. Initially he worked off running sessions but now he is training again with the group. Again, everything goes as desired. I expect him to return by the end of this month."

So Villa fans can certainly expect Benteke to be back in action by the time they take on Chelsea on the 27th September.
