Match to be played on Saturday 13th September 2014 at 17:30. Venue: Anfield, Liverpool.
Aston Villa will be confident heading into their trip to Anfield this weekend after a good win against Hull City.
Villa performed well at Liverpool last season, securing a 2-2 draw to become one of the only teams to take anything away from Anfield in a campaign which nearly saw Liverpool win the league.
Paul Lambert has some selection decisions to make but here’s the side he might decide to go with.
GK – Brad Guzan
The American is a solid performer in goal for Villa and someone who always looks to take the pressure off the back four.
RB – Alan Hutton
An experienced and consistent defender at both ends of the pitch who will start on the right hand side.
CB – Philippe Senderos
Has looked as though he’s never been away from Premier League football throughout the season so far.
CB – Ron Vlaar
Picked up a calf problem against Hull but will face a fitness test ahead of the game. If he passes, he starts.
LB – Aly Cissokho
He’s doing well with a consistent run of games and will have a point to prove against the side that had him on loan last season.
RM – Kieran Richardson
A deceptively quick player and someone who also injects some good experience into the team. A safe player.
CM – Ashley Westwood
Westwood has developed tremendously since he’s been in the first team. He’s more than capable of pulling the strings in the middle.
CM – Fabian Delph
Delph showed what he could do for England earlier this week against Switzerland and Lambert will be hoping for more of the same.
LM – Charles N’Zogbia
Another player who offers decent pace on the left and someone who can get at Liverpool’s right-back.
ST – Andreas Weimann
Weimann is a good option to have up front because he can also drop off and into midfield if Liverpool start to build a lot of pressure.
ST – Gabby Agbonlahor
He’s just signed a new contract and should be looking to justify that decision by the club. His pace can hurt Liverpool on the counter.
