We bring you the latest news from West Bromwich Albion, Stoke City, Birmingham City, Wolverhampton Wanderers, Aston Villa and Derby County.

Joleon Lescott ready to make debut

West Bromwich Albion’s marquee summer signing Joleon Lescott says that he is ready to make his debut.

The Baggies brought Lescott in on a free transfer over the past transfer window, after his contract at Manchester City expired, but he has yet to make his debut due to injury.

However, the experienced centre-back has recovered from that set-back and he says that he is prepared to face Everton at the weekend.

“If he [Alan Irvine, WBA’s manager]asks me to play, obviously I would never rule myself out,” he said.

“Who knows what is in store? I’m just taking it day-by-day. If the manager sees fit for me to be involved at the weekend in some capacity then great.”

Brek Shea joins Birmingham

Brek Shea has left Stoke City to join Birmingham City on an emergency loan.

The American winger has fallen out of contention at the Britannia and will be looking to get his career back on track at St. Andrews.

Kenny Jackett warns against complacency

Wolverhampton Wanderers may be taking on crisis club Blackpool at the weekend, but Kenny Jackett does not want any complacency from his side.

The Tangerines are yet to win a game after struggling to even get a team together over the summer, but Jackett insists that Wolves will only be focusing on their own performance ahead of the game.

“We have to focus on our side and our own performance, to make sure we’re not slow getting started,” he said.

“Blackpool’s problems and plight has been well documented but the run they’ve had won’t go on forever and so we have to respect the opposition without focusing on them too much.”

Weimann reveals it’s a dream to play alongside Agbonlahor

Andreas Weimann has revealed that it is a dream to play alongside Gabriel Agbonlahor.

Agbonlahor has spent his entire career at Villa Park and just put pen to paper on a new four-year-deal and Weimann feels that this makes him a legend for the Claret and Blue.

"It's a dream to play alongside Gabby,” Weimann said.

"When I was in the youth team, Gabby was obviously already in the seniors. I went to games to watch him."

"Now to be playing with him is fantastic.”

Paul Coutts still struggling

Derby County midfielder Paul Coutts is still struggling with injury, Paul Simpson has revealed.

Coutts has been ruled out with a hip-flexor injury for some time now, but Simpson says that little progress has been made in terms of a recovery.

“It is about three weeks since he had a scan but there is still no improvement with the injury,” Simpson said.

“We just have to be patient and keep working with him.”
