This weekend will see Newcastle United take on Southampton in the Premier League as the international break comes to an end. It will also see two players who appear to have now established themselves in their national team manager's thoughts go head to head.
Remy Cabella and Morgan Schneiderlin both had hectic summer's in the transfer window. One got his move, one didn't - but they have both started the Premier League season in good form.
With that in mind they were both recently handed a start by Didier Deschamps in France's international friendly with Serbia.
The two are reportedly good friends on international duty. Both a similar age and playing in the Premier League - they have reason to be allies.
But this weekend that will not be the case. Both Newcastle and Southampton have started the Premier League season in reasonable fashion. Newcastle have two points from three games whilst Southampton have four.
Therefore victory for Newcastle this weekend would see them leapfrog Southampton regardless. Cabella will be integral to that, but Schneiderlin has revealed his ploy, with tongue firmly in cheek, to stop Cabella from pulling the strings at St Mary's this Saturday. He told French radio this week:
“I will make sure I get him at the ankles a little bit this weekend.”
Knowing Schneiderlin, he is probably only half joking.
