Samir Nasri picks his perfect XI – ‘There’s only one Ronaldo’

Manchester City midfielder Samir Nasri has picked his all-time perfect XI, with some interesting selections and omissions.

Manchester City midfielder Samir Nasri has revealed which 11 players would make his all-time dream team.

The Frenchman was talking to the Blues’ official website, and his choices make for interesting reading.

In goal, Nasri opted for former Manchester United and France goalkeeper Fabian Barthez, who the midfielder described as the best ‘keeper the City star has ever seen.

“He was amazing and gave me a lot of advice for my career,” Nasri added.

In defence, the 27-year-old opted for a back-four of Cafu, Roberto Carlos, Lilian Thuram and Paolo Maldini.

Of Cafu, Nasri said, “He was everything I love about a full-back,” before revealing that Roberto Carlos was in his side for the same reasons – his outstanding offensive ability too good to ignore.

Playing with one defensive midfielder Nasri opted for former City player Patrick Vieira in that position, with Zinedine Zidane, Diego Maradona and Johan Cruyff as the three attacking midfielders.

On Maradona, Nasri said, “My idol, the best player of all time; the most gifted and talented player that I have ever seen.”

And up front Nasri went for the Brazilian Ronaldo and Lionel Messi.

Of the former, the City star said, “To me there is only one Ronaldo and it is him. He had everything. He was in advance of his time. I have never seen a striker with that much talent.”

Nasri’s team makes for interesting reading, and there is no doubt it would give any side a run for its money.
