Japanese sales of Xbox One only gather half of Xbox 360 sales

Microsoft's flagship consoles isn't doing well in Japan.

According to Famitsu the Xbox One's launch in Japan garnered just 23,562 units over a four day period. This comes as quite a blow seeing as Microsoft's Xbox 360 sold 62,135 in just half the time when it was launched in the country back in 2005. The original Xbox sold 123,929 units during its launch weekend in 2002, so a definite trend of spiralling sales can be seen here.

Japan has traditionally favoured other consoles over the years, compared to Microsoft's Xboxes. And when looking at the sales of Sony's PS4 and the Nintendo Wii U, it's easy to see that Xbox isn't the favoured console in the country.

Sony's PS4 mustered up approximately 308,000 unit sales in it's first week on sale in Japan, whilst the Nintendo Wii U bagged 322,000.
