A former Everton star has been talking about a current player, giving him a ringing endorsement.
Former Everton player Ian Snodin took time out on Wednesday morning to answer some questions from Toffees fans on Twitter.
The 51-year-old was asked a whole number of things, including what was his favourite game while at Everton and who his favourite current player is. But the one question – and answer – that stood out came at the beginning of the Q&A, when Snodin was asked who he thought was the best right-back in the world.
“I can’t really think of one off the top of my head,” he replied. “But I know we’ve got the best in the Premier League in Seamus (Coleman).”
Consdering some of the other right-backs currently plying their trade in the English top flight, it was an interesting statement from Snodin.
And yet few would disagree that Coleman has been consistently brilliant at Goodison Park, and his form shows no signs of dropping.
The 25-year-old has already scored one and set up another in just three Premier League games this season, while his record of 15 goals and 15 assists in 146 club appearances is impressive.
The likes of Jon Flanagan, Mathieu Debuchy and Cesar Azpilicueta may have something to say about Snodin’s assertion, but the simple fact is Coleman has been outstanding for Everton and rarely fails to perform.
