Former Liverpool man Aquilani's woes continue

Ex-Liverpool midfielder Alberto Aquilani is out in the cold at Fiorentina and considering tearing up his contract to find a new team.

Alberto Aquilani had a tough time at Liverpool and things have become even worse at Fiorentina, causing him to consider rescinding his contract.

At Roma, Aquilani was considered one of Italy's brightest midfield prospects but his £17 million move to Liverpool in 2009 coincided with a worsening on his injury problems.

Liverpool loaned Aquilani to Juventus and AC Milan after an injury-ravaged 2009-10 campaign and he regained his form in Serie A before moving to Fiorentina in August 2012.

But while Aquilani has given glimpses of his ability, such as his only career hat-trick in a 3-3 draw with Genoa, he has often been peripheral in Florence.

According to Italian newspaper La Nazione, Aquilani's agent Franco Zavaglia has been frustrated with talks over a renewed contract progressing slowly.

Aquilani's current deal expires next summer and it is being suggested that Zavaglia may terminate the contract ahead of schedule to relaunch his client's career elsewhere.

A number of Serie A sides would probably be willing to consider bringing Aquilani in as a free agent and he could be on the move sooner rather than later.
