The Leeds United under-21 game yesterday presented the club’s fans with a first chance to see summer signing Adryan in action.
However, reports last week suggested that he should have been joined by Dario Del Fabro and Brian Montenegro, who also moved to Elland Road over the summer.
So why didn’t the duo join Adryan in making their debuts for Leeds United?
The pair didn’t have international clearance, which has left caretaker boss Neil Redfearn sweating ahead of the important Championship match against Birmingham City this weekend.
Redfearn confirmed via BBC Radio Leeds that the club had only received clearance for Adryan, which is the reason he featured in the match against Ipswich Town and the other two didn’t.
“We have had clearance for Adryan but we still haven’t received clearance for Montenegro and Del Fabro,” he’s quoted by the Vital Leeds page.
So when can Leeds expect to see the new pair in action?
One of the reasons behind using the under-21 game yesterday for game time would have been to improve the match fitness and sharpness of the new signings ahead of the weekend.
It’s extremely doubtful whether Redfearn will use Del Fabro or Montengero against Birmingham when they go into the match on the back of very little game time and with the side under big pressure to get a result.
Leeds have another under-21 game this Monday against Barnsley at home, which could provide the platform for Del Fabro and Montenegro to finally step into the team and make their Leeds debuts.
