Aston Villa midfielder Ashley Westwood has warned Liverpool that he and his teammates head to Anfield this weekend in great spirits.
Villa have made a great start to the season and are above Liverpool by a point having won two games and drawn one, conceding a single goal; the joint best defensive record in the Premier League.
Villa have also benefited from not having as many players away on international duty, which Westwood argues has allowed them to train hard and focus on taking three points away from Merseyside.
“There's a great buzz. The mood in camp is really, really good - Liverpool have picked up from when we last played them. So we know it's going to be a tough game at Anfield. However, we definitely go there with our heads held high,” he told the Villa website.
“During the international break it's been the same for the likes of Gabby (Agbolahor) and I. While the lads have been away, we've been in working hard towards the game at Liverpool.”
Villa’s so far solid defence has allowed them to see out close games with only three goals scored, which is the joint lowest out of all the sides currently in the top nine on the Premier League table.

The trick for Villa this weekend is going to be absorbing a great deal of pressure from Liverpool before breaking on the counter and looking to exploit the space that Brendan Rodgers’ side leave behind.
It’s a big risk considering the talent Liverpool have in their attack but if Villa are too open, then everyone is aware of how devastating someone like Raheem Sterling can be when he’s running into space.
Villa were able to raise themselves for big games last season when they were considered the clear underdogs heading into a match as the repeat of this up coming fixture at Anfield last season showed.
Despite their good start to the season, it will be a fairly similar situation but if they can defend and attack well then the positive mood that Westwood talks about could be maintained and even made stronger.
