Arsenal defender Nacho Monreal has been speaking about teammate Calum Chambers.
The former Southampton player signed for the Gunners in a £16million deal in the summer, and he has impressed considerably so far, to such an extent that he has won his first England cap and been crowned Arsenal’s Player of the Month.
Speaking to Arsenal’s official website, Monreal praised the teenager, while he also revealed that it may take some time for Arsene Wenger’s men to be firing on all cylinders.
“Calum has been a good surprise for me because I didn’t meet him too much and he’s also younger,” Monreal said.
“He’s played like he’s played for a long time in the Premier League. He’s a good player and an important player for us now and in the future because he’s younger.”
The Spaniard went on to reveal that it could be a while before Arsenal are performing at their optimum level this season.
“I think we need a little bit more time because last summer a lot of players were playing in the World Cup and they came back late,” he said.
The latest of them all were those lucky enough to lift the trophy, and they will be hoping to get their hands on some domestic silverware again this season following Arsenal’s FA Cup heroics back in May.
With Chambers playing such an integral role so far, the teenager would be particularly deserving of such success given the way he has embraced his move to North London.
