Injury scare for Juventus’s Arturo Vidal – this time it’s not his knee

Arturo Vidal with Juventus Squad

Manchester United’s summer transfer target Arturo Vidal is doubtful for Juventus’s Serie A game against Udinese on Saturday because of a thigh problem.

Manchester United’s summer transfer target Arturo Vidal recently fended off speculation that he is still struggling with his knee.

The Juventus midfielder had played through the pain at the 2014 World Cup in Brazil and missed much of the Italian champions’ pre-season preparations in order to completely recover.

Even though Vidal started the Bianconeri’s opening game of the Serie A season against Chievo in Verona last month, reports persisted that he had not completely regained his full fitness.

Vidal was in the USA on international duty for Chile last week, and rumours started to circulate that he had aggravated his knee problem there.

The 27-year-old former Bayer Leverkusen star, who could have cost the Red Devils as much as £40 million, had to take to social networking site Twitter to dispel all the speculation (click here to read more).

Vidal’s knee may be fine, but it appears that he has hurt his thigh while in the USA. He has returned to Juventus after featuring in Chile’s friendly international against Mexico with yet another problem.

‘Midfielder Arturo Vidal returned from international duty reporting muscular discomfort at the back of his right thigh’, reads a statement on Juventus’s official website.

‘He sat out training today (Tuesday) and tomorrow will undergo tests to assess his availability for the Bianconeri’s upcoming fixtures’.

Juventus will return to Serie A action against Udinese in Turin on Saturday, but they may have to make do without their star man Vidal.
