Barcelona’s B team were in superb form as they thrashed Real Zaragoza 4-1 in the second tier of Spanish football yesterday.
While he didn’t get on the score sheet, Traore produced a solid all round display of attacking football often showing great vision and composure in the final third during the game, always looking for a teammate in a better position.
Several reports suggest that Manchester United tried to land the 18-year-old over the summer while newspapers in Spain have suggested that the youngster is the ideal prospect for the Premier League giants.
Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal has a long history of developing younger players so it wouldn’t be a major surprise if United made another play to sign Traore in the winter or next summer.
What the Dutchman will be hoping to see more of is a bit of selfishness. While a video compilation of Traore’s highlights against Zaragoza is impressive, he wasn’t among the four goalscorers during the game.
What he does seem to have is pace and skill in possession out in wide areas and it will be fascinating to see how he plays when the UEFA Youth League gets under way next week.
Unfortunately for United, the fact they aren’t in the Champions League this season means no potential match up for Traore against United’s current youngsters, which would have provided a greater insight as to how he looks compared to the best youngsters United have to offer.
However, there will be potential match ups against Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool and Manchester City as Barcelona look to retain their title.
Sit back and enjoy Traore’s performance against Zaragoza yesterday.
