Teenage Tottenham striker reveals joy at tournament-winning goal

Ryan Loft has been speaking after his match-winning goal for the under-18s against their Benfica counterparts.

Tottenham Hotspur striker Ryan Loft has been talking about his match-winning performance against Benfica in the under-18s Champions Cup.

The young forward scored a brace against Everton before netting the match-winner against the Portuguese side the following day, and he has since spoken to Spurs’ official website.

“It feels good to get the goal in such a big match and it was great to help the team win,” Loft said.

“It was a hard game. Benfica were attacking quite a lot in the second half so we had to be disciplined defensively, but we held on.”

Loft also featured in the 1-1 draw with Real Madrid on Saturday and given the competition it is impressive that Tottenham came away with the trophy.

That is something Loft hopes propels him and his teammates forward for the coming campaign.

“This is the first trophy we’ve won in a little while,” he added, “so it’s been a great experience and it’ll give us a massive boost going forward. Our confidence is high and hopefully this isn’t going to be the last silverware we win as a team.”

The teenager has a long way to go before breaking into Tottenham’s first-team plans, but he is certainly going the right way about it, his three goals proving vital as Spurs’ potential stars of the future shone on a weekend when many of their senior teammates were away on international duty.
