Manchester City latest: 63% of fans polled want this January addition; Jovetic injury blow

All the latest news, views and transfer rumours from the Etihad…

Manchester City have been linked with a surprise swoop for Southampton striker Jay Rodriguez.

The England international was strongly linked with a move to Tottenham Hotspur during the last transfer window, but the latest claim is that Manuel Pellegrini is keen on taking the 25-year-old to the Etihad.

It would be a somewhat surprising move given the presence of Sergio Aguero, Edin Dzeko and Stevan Jovetic, but a report in the Sun claims the Chilean is keen to add more English talent to his squad.

In other news, Jovetic could miss City’s league match against Arsenal at the weekend.

The Guardian reports that the striker has picked up a hamstring injury and could be forced to sit out the match at the Emirates Stadium.

It would be a big blow considering the fine form Jovetic has been in so far this season.

And finally, the Manchester Evening News has published the results of a poll asking City fans a number of questions regarding the new campaign.

It includes the fact that 26% of those taking part in the survey believed that Alvaro Negredo’s departure would prove to be the most keenly felt, ahead of Micah Richards, Javi Garcia and Joleon Lescott.

While 63% of those polled believe a striker is City’s priority in the January transfer window.

So perhaps that Rodriguez link is not as far-fetched as first thought...
