Manchester United player Juan Mata has posted his latest blog entry, in which he talks about preparing for the upcoming match against Queens Park Rangers and the club’s deadline day signing of Radamel Falcao.
Mata was not included in the Spain squad to face Macedonia on Monday evening, leaving the play-maker to enjoy some much appreciated downtime; although he was also involved in first-team training with a vital Premier League match on the horizon.
“Very good days of work preparing for our game in Old Trafford next Sunday,” Mata wrote. “It’s true that the full team won’t be together until Thursday and I’m looking forward to that day, with all of us training, obviously with the idea of improving our game and getting better results.”
When United next take to the pitch they will have a number of new faces in their squad, with Marcos Rojo, Radamel Falcao and Daley Blind all tipped to make their debuts on Sunday, while Angel di Maria should make his home bow.
And with Falcao stealing the headlines on transfer deadline day, Mata reserved special praise for the Colombian international.
“Almost at the end of the transfer window we had a new signing,” the former club-record signing said. “Not just a player, but a fantastic striker whose ability to score is extraordinary: Radamel Falcao.
“I am sure he will give a lot to our group, as a person and with his goals, and here I welcome him and I wish him the best for this season.”
Falcao’s goal-scoring record is outstanding and one senses that while some are tipping Mata to make way for the new arrivals, the Spaniard could actually flourish in the company of the likes of the on-loan Monaco man and the majestic Di Maria.
