Liverpool striker Daniel Sturridge suffered injury last week, his 11th in total since transferring to Anfield from Chelsea 18 months ago, as an FA spokesperson confirmed that the 25-year-old had been ruled out of the 2016 European Championship qualifier against Switzerland in Basel later this evening, Monday.
The FA said in an official release recently: "[Sturridge] will return to Liverpool treatment [because] he will play no part in the forthcoming Switzerland match."
Since his Merseyside move in January 2013, Sturridge has suffered numerous muscular problems in his legs including six thigh complaints, two ankle problems and three hamstring issues.
Liverpool recently bounced-back from a 3-1 loss to Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium, to down Tottenham Hotspur by three goals to nil at White Hart Lane.
With upcoming fixtures at home to Aston Villa, Ludogorets Razgrad and away to West Ham United, it is imperative the Reds maintain their Spurs momentum - but would benefit greatly from a fully fit Sturridge for the month ahead.
Sturridge may have allayed any fears he would be out for a long, or even medium term basis as the Englishman posted the above photograph with the following caption on his Instagram account: "[I will] be back soon…"
