Marco Reus’s injury news may have pleased Arsenal fans, but star forward Lukas Podolski is disappointed with his compatriot’s latest setback.
The 25-year-old attacking midfielder suffered an ankle injury in the final minutes of Germany’s 2-1 win against Scotland in a Euro 2016 qualifier at the Signal Iduna Park in Dortmund on Sunday.
The Borussia Dortmund star had to be helped off the pitch, although he could walk back to the Germany dressing room (click here to read more).
Further tests carried out on Reus on Monday revealed the extent of the injury, with the former Borussia Monchengladbach star having suffered a sprained ankle as well as a partially torn ligament.
Reus is expected to be on the sidelines for four weeks, which means that he will not be able to feature against Arsenal in Dortmund’s opening Champions League Group D fixture at home on Tuesday, September 16.
Arsenal fans will be relieved that one of the best attacking players in the world will not be playing against them, but Reus’s Germany international teammate Podolski is disappointed with his injury and wishes him a speedy recovery.
