Liverpool fans react to Sturridge injury: Hodgson continues to hurt us

Daniel Sturridge faces a spell on the sidelines, prompting Liverpool fans to question why Roy Hodgson had to play him for 90 minutes during England duty.

Things aren't getting any easier for Roy Hodgson.

In the wake of England's drab 1-0 win over Norway, the Three Lions boss endeared himself to few when he swore at journalists who rightly questioned his side's display.

And, as if a terrible World Cup campaign wasn't enough, Hodgson has now lost his main striker ahead of England's opening Euro 2016 qualifier at Switzerland.

Indeed, Daniel Sturridge has been ruled out of the international clash after suffering a thigh injury in training.

Initial reports suggest he will be out for three weeks and Sturridge himself admits he is a 'heartbroken soul:'

For Liverpool fans, meanwhile, there is only one man to blame: Hodgson.

This isn't the first time the 25-year-old has left England duty with an injury and many Reds supporters have questioned why the Three Lions boss had to play Sturridge for 90 minutes against Norway.

The England striker's injury looks to have ruled him out of Liverpool's Premier League clash with Aston Villa, as well as their Champions League return against FC Ludogorets.

And, as some fans have put it, that looks like a sure sign that Hodgson is continuing to haunt and hurt the Anfield side.

The 67-year-old was appointed Liverpool boss in 2010 but lasted just several months before being sacked. Needless to say, the spell rendered him rather unpopular on Merseyside, as evidenced by their reaction to Sturridge's latest injury...
