The six United stars whose deals end in 2015 - Who should stay?

Manchester United have big decisions to make regarding six members of their current first-team squad.

Manchester United have been busy in the summer transfer window, bringing six new stars into the club. But they will soon have another decision to make, with the same number of players seeing their current contracts expire in less than 12 months.

With players free to discuss pre-contract agreements from January onwards, United must decide quickly in regards to five of the players.

Those men are Ben Amos, Anderson, Darren Fletcher, Michael Carrick and Tom Cleverley, while the sixth – Radamel Falcao – has a loan deal that ends in the same summer as the longer-term contracts of five of his new teammates.

As things stand, Carrick is the most likely to be offered a new deal, with the England international set to become a vital part of Louis van Gaal’s side once he is back from an unfortunately-timed ankle injury. The good thing for United in terms of the midfielder is that his current deal includes the option of a one-year extension, and it would be a huge surprise if that was not exercised in due course.

Fletcher should also extend his stay, especially when you consider he has recently been named the club’s vice-captain.

Amos is the other player who could yet remain at the club, especially with Anders Lindegaard sure to tire of bench-warming duties sooner rather than later. United may move for another goalkeeper to act as back-up for David de Gea, but a new deal for Amos is still possible, along with an exit for Lindegaard.

As for Anderson and Cleverley, their time is surely up, unless the latter can impress van Gaal during his loan stint at Aston Villa.

And as for Falcao, if he does as well as many are predicting, United must simply decide if he is worth the reported €65million it would take to make his deal a permanent one.

Likely to stay: Falcao, Carrick, Fletcher, Amos

Likely to leave: Cleverley, Anderson
