PICTURE: Tottenham youngsters celebrate Champions Cup win

Tottenham Hotspur's under-18 side won the Champions Cup on Saturday, beating Benfica in the final.

Tottenham Hotspur’s senior players may have been on international duty this weekend, but that did not mean the action stopped for all Spurs’ age-groups.

The club’s Academy side competed in the Champions Cup, along with their counterparts from Everton, Real Madrid and Benfica, and after two days of action it was Tottenham who came out on top.

A 5-1 victory against the Toffees and a 1-1 draw with Madrid saw Spurs reach the final where they played Portuguese club Benfica. And a single goal – a header from 17-year-old Ryan Loft – was enough to give the North London side the victory.

While Mauricio Pochettino has brought in new players this summer, he will be keeping a very close eye on the youth coming through at his new club.

After all, he showed he was not afraid to give young players a chance at his former club Southampton and in time the same could well happen at the Lilywhites.
