The England players are off to Basel for their Euro 2016 qualifier against Switzerland, while Scotland are in action against Germany tonight.

Arsenal defender Calum Chambers and Liverpool winger Raheem Sterling were among the England players who departed for Switzerland earlier today.

The duo are part of a strong and young Three Lions squad that will take on the hosts at St Jakob-Park in Basel in their opening Euro 2016 Group E match on Monday.

Roy Hodgson’s side will head into the encounter on the back of a 1-0 victory over Norway at London’s Wembley Stadium on Wednesday.

Manchester United captain Wayne Rooney scored the winner from the penalty spot midway through the second half, but England’s performance left much to be desired.

Rooney’s United teammate Darren Fletcher will be in action tonight for Scotland against Germany in Dortmund.

The Euro 2016 Group D qualifier will be played at Borossia Dortmund’s Signal Iduna Park, and the German club have posted the following welcoming message to the Scottish players and fans.

It is a very proud statement from Dortmund, who do indeed have a great stadium. The atmosphere at Signal Iduna Park on matchdays is one of the best in Europe, and Scotland will find it tough against a partisan crowd tonight.

Germany will head into tonight’s encounter as the favourites, but they will be smarting from their 4-2 defeat to Argentina in Dusseldorf on Wednesday.
