Aston Villa midfielder Fabian Delph has been photographed as he prepares to board the plane to Switzerland.
The newly-capped England international will be hoping to add to the 21 minutes of action he saw when Roy Hodgson’s side faced Norway in a friendly last week. But with the next match vital to the Three Lions’ qualification hopes, the 24-year-old may have to make do with a watching brief.
Delph impressed during his brief cameo and his recent form for Villa suggests he can become one of the stars of his generation.
After being prematurely hailed one of the latest in a conveyor-belt of ‘wonder-kids’ Delph is finally making up for lost time and he is vital to Villa’s plans not just this season but in years to come.
For that reason, it is vital Paul Lambert secures his long-term future as soon as possible.
But that is a thought for another day, with international matters taking precedence and Delph hoping he will have the chance to influence the Switzerland match as effectively as he has so many recent Villa games.
