Manchester United’s Radamel Falcao reveals what makes him so deadly

Manchester United’s transfer deadline-day signing Radamel Falcao explains what makes him so deadly inside the opposition’s penalty box.

The arrival of Radamel Falcao at Manchester United must have struck fear into the hearts of the Premier League defenders.

The Colombia international is regarded by many as the best finisher in the world and is easily one of the top three strikers on the planet when fit.

The former Atletico Madrid star has come to England with a strong goalscoring reputation, having struck 104 times in 139 matches since moving to Europe in 2009.

Falcao has a 25% shots-to-goal conversion rate and has scored a goal every 117 minutes. Despite missing the early weeks of the league campaign, he is many football followers’ favourites to become the top scorer in the English top flight

But has the 28-year-old already let slip his secret to being such a prolific scorer and given the Premier League defenders suggestions on how to stop him even before making his United debut?

Explaining to the FourFourTwo magazine what makes him a penalty-box specialist, Falcao said: ‘The first five yards of any move you’re involved in are among the most important you can make as a striker.

‘Forwards like me act on instinct. There’s no better feeling than getting in front of a defender to make a difference for your team...

‘Part of the art of being a striker is anticipating what’s going to happen next. You have to out-think a defender to get the better of them...

‘Being able to shoot with both feet is such an important weapon for a striker to have. Being able to surprise them is crucial. I like to mix up what side I go when I come up against a defender in a one-against-one situation’.

Even after Falcao’s revelation how he gets the better of the opposition defenders, he still remains a nightmare and could prove to be so against Queens Park Rangers at Old Trafford on Sunday.
