Arsenal’s core of six give hope for club success and international glory

Arsenal have six young English players who will be vital to their future success.

In the past, much has been written about Arsene Wenger’s transfer policy, with foreign imports – some more succesful than others – arriving at Arsenal in place of English talent.

That is not to say the Gunners have not supplied the national team with plenty of players down the years, only that it has been a sprinkling rather than a sizeable contribution.

But not anymore, with Arsenal possessing a core of impressive English stars that bodes well for both the Three Lions and Wenger’s latest squad.

The summer additions of Calum Chambers and Danny Welbeck has given Arsenal something akin to a clean sweep, with the Emirates now home to defenders, midfielders, wingers and forwards who could all be vital to England in the years to come.

In Chambers, Welbeck, Jack Wilshere, Theo Walcott, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Kieran Gibbs, Arsenal have an English heart, improved further with lashings of European and South American quality.

But despite the presence of the likes of Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil, what is most exciting about Arsenal’s next phase is that some of the country’s brightest talents look set to be a huge part of it.

That could not always have been said about Wenger’s Arsenal, but things have changed, and as they grow and learn together, they could ultimately become one of the most successful sides of the lot.
