The future surrounding new Manchester United signing Radamel Falcao was one of the biggest stories in the footballing world throughout the summer.
The Colombian international was strongly tipped with a move to Real Madrid, with speculation intensifying as Los Blancos sold Karim Benzema’s understudy Alvaro Morata to Juventus.
As it was, the Red Devils won the race for his signature ahead of a number of suitors as they concluded an astonishing £20 million loan deal for the striker.
After being questioned on Falcao’s move to Old Trafford, without going into details Real Madrid club president Florentino Perez told reporters how he reviewed the situation with Italian boss Carlo Ancelotti during the summer and together they decided not to pursue a deal.
“He is a fantastic player and we’ve considered signing him, not just now but also in the past. We reviewed the situation with Ancelotti and made a decision not to pursue signing the player”. He said, quoted by the Spanish newspaper AS.
In other news, current Portuguese superstar Cristiano Ronaldo has once again declared his love for former club Manchester United, stating he would like a return to the Premier League side at some point in the future.
Such comments, however, aren’t particularly new to United supporters as Florentino Perez showed no signs of worry when asked to explain the former Old Trafford hero’s statement.
He said: “I’ve mentioned it before; it’s a sign of affection that he holds for the club. Talk to him about it”.
Since arriving in La Liga, the current Ballon d'Or holder has netted a whopping 255 league goals in 250 appearances and helped the club win its tenth Champions League crown.
