Chelsea morning news: Injury fears for Costa; Remy on Mourinho

All the latest news and gossip from Stamford Bridge this Saturday morning.

Remy reasons

Loic Remy has spoken about his move to Chelsea today. Remy joined the club toward the end of the Transfer Window after The Blues had flogged Fernando Torres to AC Milan on loan.

And the £8 million has revealed that Jose Mourinho was a massive deciding factor in his decision to choose Chelsea over Arsenal:

"I spoke with him [Mourinho]. He is very clever and he knows exactly what he wants. He has targets for me and I know I have a target for myself as well. Everybody wants the best so the discussion was really good. I know he can get the best out of a player and I'm looking forward to working with him. We have two great strikers here already and I don't have a choice if I want to be in the team - I have to play at a very high level."

Remy recently scored the winner for France in an international friendly against Diego Costa's Spain.

Costa hamstrung

There are growing injury fears over Costa, who has once again suffered a hamstring problem. The striker, who has started the new campaign with gusto, scoring four goals in three games for Chelsea.

However he has pulled out of the Spanish squad for their European Championship qualifier against Macedonia this week:

"Diego Costa is not available for selection because of an injury to the hamstring muscle in his left thigh. All imaging tests will be sent to Chelsea."

Munir El Haddadi has been called up in his place and it is yet another hamstring problem for a player who seems to have a chronic issue with the muscle.

Chelsea will hope he is passed fit for their next fixture.

Finally, and Atletico Madrid midfielder Tiago has revealed why he did not return to the club this summer. The Portuguese international was offered a Stamford Bridge return by Mourinho when a free agent this summer. But he explained of his decision to turn them down:

"The summer was very difficult. I want to explain [to] the fans what happened but there are some things that I cannot explain because [they] are not important. At the end of last season, I received a great offer [from Chelsea] and it made me think about making a change.

"But I realised that the most important thing was to feel important at a club. I spoke to Cholo [Simeone] and he told me he wanted me in the squad in the next training session.

"From then, I could only think of rejoining Atletico and wearing this shirt again."

Tiago was speaking after re-joining Atletico yesterday.
