This summer it has been a case in with the new and out with the, well, new actually at Aston Villa. the club have sold or loaned the likes of Jordan Bowery, Karim El Ahmadi, Nicklas Helenius, Yacouba Sylla, Aleksandar Tonev and Joe Bennett this summer - and even tried to send Matt Lowton on his way. All players recently signed by the club but now asked to go elsewhere.
Another such player was Antonio Luna. The left-back arrived at Villa last summer and started the season with a bang, scoring on his Premier League debut in a 3-1 win against Arsenal at The Emirates Stadium.
He went on to play 18 games for the club but mid-way through January he was suddenly dropped by Lambert. Villa brought in Ryan Bertrand on loan from Chelsea and Luna did not play a game for Villa since the 2-2 draw with Liverpool at Anfield on the 18th January.
With that in mind Luna wanted a move this summer, and in June Villa agreed he could join Serie A side Hellas Verona on a season-long loan deal.
Yesterday Luna was officially presented to the Italian fans - and in the press conference he addressed his time at Villa:
"Last year? Do not ask me why I have not played in the last few months at Aston Villa. I do not even know myself. I just know that I started off well, but in return I lost the starting spot. Verona is the ideal place for a relaunch. "
Luna will hope to show Lambert and co what he can do in the Italian top-flight this season.
