Arsenal star Wojciech Szczesny has taken to Facebook in a bid to rubbish quotes regarding his professional relationship with fellow shot-stopper David Ospina.
The Polish goalkeeper was interviewed yesterday on the subject of the current goalkeeping situation at the Emirates Stadium and his thoughts on new arrival Ospina.
According to reports in the media, Szczesny was interpreted as saying that he doesn’t see the Colombian international as ‘a friend’.
The quotes read: ‘He [Ospina] is a nice guy. In a sporting sense, he is a suitable player at a suitable club. But it’s easier for me just in one aspect: I do not feel sorry for him.
‘I do not think he’s my friend as I thought about Fabian. I was convinced Lukasz deserved to play, but not at my expense.’
After being made aware of the quotes doing the rounds in the English press, Szczesny was understandably irritated and took to Facebook in order to set the record straight.
Last season, he kept an impressive 16 clean sheets and won the Premier League’s Golden Glove award for the first time in his career.
