Guillermo Varela joins team-mate Javier Hernandez on the list sent to UEFA by Real Madrid today.
On Transfer Deadline day Manchester United sent one of their star men out on loan to Real Madrid. Javier Hernandez joined up with Los Blancos, as United brought in Radamel Falcao from AS Monaco.
Most people knew that, but what might have slipped some by is the fact Hernandez was not the only United player to swap Old Trafford for the Bernabeu this summer.
Hernandez is joined at Real by fellow United player Guillermo Varela, who is also on a season-long loan deal.
The Uruguayan was David Moyes' first signing for the club and was a regular in Warren Joyce's under-21 side. The 21-year-old, who signed from Penarol a year ago for €2.8 million, will spend this season with the Real Madrid Castilla team, under the management of legendary midfielder Zinedine Zidane.
He may even make an appearance in the Champions League. Real Madrid have included Varela in their Champions League squad for the upcoming season, along with other unknown quantities such as Eero Markkanen and Abner.
So while the majority of his campaign looks set to be played out in the Segunda Division there is also the chance he might do what Manchester United are not this season - and play in the Champions League.
