Gary Lineker's message to Hodgson: 'Don't get angry, deal with it!'

Roy Hodgson

The former Tottenham Hotspur striker says he doesn't understand why the England boss was enraged by recent media criticism.

Gary Lineker has delivered a simple message to Roy Hodgson on Twitter: don't get angry - deal with it.

'It' in this case, of course, is media criticism - and criticism that seems entirely justified.

Indeed, when the England manager was asked about his side having taken just three shots on target in their last five games, Hodgson replied that that was “absolute f***ing b*******."

However, Lineker says he has never understood why coaches get angry at media criticism as it is part of the job.

Instead, the former Spurs and England striker says Hodgson must deal with his critics and prove them wrong.

Hodgson's outburst came in the wake of another drab Three Lions performance against Norway, which boasted the lowest attendance at the new Wembley - around 40,000.

Nevertheless, England did manage to beat the Norwegians thanks to a Wayne Rooney penalty.

Now, Hodgson's side will travel to Switzerland, whom the Three Lions boss coached at the 1994 World Cup.

That clash will be England's first Euro 2016 qualifier.
