The transfer window has only just closed, but rumours are already circulating about targets for the winter market with Juventus expected to be active.
The Italian champions swooped for Real Madrid striker Alvaro Morata for £15.8 million but they missed out on Radamel Falcao, who joined Manchester United on loan.
United had been linked with Juventus midfielder Arturo Vidal throughout the summer, but no deal ever materialised.
But there are suggestions Manchester United may make contact again in January and Juventus could also be keen to discuss Spanish international Mata.
It is suggested that the deal would be dependent on Juventus progressing in the Champions League and it also isn't certain that Mata would be willing to leave Old Trafford so soon.
The deal would probably be a loan because Juventus wouldn't be able to match the vast £37 million price tag United paid Chelsea.
But Mata's position at Manchester United may have been compromised by the arrival of Angel Di Maria and he may find himself warming the bench regularly this season.
Juventus start the season as strong favourites to retain the Serie A title, but there are question marks over their ability to conquer Europe.
