There is uproar on social media as Newcastle United supporters cannot believe their cursed luck.
Newcastle United could be without attack-minded midfielder Siem de Jong, 25, for up to four months as the Dutchman has reportedly suffered a suspected grade three muscle tear to the groin.
This, after ratifying a temporary season-long exit for Hull City-bound Hatem Ben Arfa, who would have been an adept replacement.
Since the start of the summer, de Jong has suffered a hat-trick of injuries, with this groin strain the latest in a line that also includes a calf problem and an ankle knock - both sustained in July.
In a season beset by injury for Ajax last year (because of a collapsed lung), de Jong still returned 13 goal-scoring opportunities, one assist and scored seven goals from 16 starts in the Eredivisie.
His eye for goal and ability to influence the attack were said to be fundamental to Newcastle United's chances for a successful season - and now that he is injured, supporters are being quick to lose their patience.
Fans feel let down that such a dearth in quality in the attacking areas of the pitch was not an area that was remedied in the transfer market, while others pointed the finger at the club's fitness training regimen and their track record with injuries - Newcastle currently have seven players injured, the same as top of the injury league Manchester United.
