Exclusive pre-order content and the official release date have been revealed today for the next game in the Mortal Kombat series.
Mortal Kombat X is the first next-gen iteration within the Mortal Kombat universe, and it was first officially revealed back in June this year, following leaks on Amazon and teases of the game from director Ed Boon.
Within the announcement of the game's official release date today were details of the pre-order content, which includes the classic MK character, Goro, as a playable character. The Shokan warrior is available exclusively to those who pre-order the game, and will be accessible on day one of launch. We assume that Goro will be available to everyone later on down the line, but this has yet to be confirmed.
From what we've seen of MKX it's certainly looking impressive in the looks department, and it will use a new variation mechanic too, which means each character has three different fighting styles to choose from before heading into combat, mixing things up a little.
MKX is the first Mortal Kombat game since 2011's Mortal Kombat, which was developed by NetherRealm Studios and acted as a reboot to the franchise - it was very well received by critics and gamers alike at the time, so MKX could build upon that success if it doesn't stray too far from the base formula.
