Microsoft bypass Destiny ad block with spoof fragrance

‘The New Fragrance From Xbox’ has top notes of Destiny

Microsoft have got around a block on advertising for Bungie’s upcoming FPS Destiny by publishing a mock Destiny fragrance website.

On the landing page of the website a bottle of Destiny perfume appears alongside the tagline, “The new fragrance by Xbox”

Desiny By Xbox

Clicking through to the next page reveals the sites real intentions with the words:

"Okay so here's the lowdown. Destiny is actually an epic new first-person shooter, available on Xbox. Thing is, we didn't have permission to run adverts for the game.

"So we didn't. Thanks for smelling that something was up. Now get the game and become a legend."

From there you are taken to options to purchase Destiny bundled with an Xbox One.

PlayStation has had a prominent association with Destiny leading up to launch with the game being promoted by Sony at E3 and Gamescom, timed exclusive extras coming to PlayStation and a promotional white PS4 coming bundled with the game.

To counter Sony’s Destiny dominance, Microsoft announced a Xbox One deal to run next week in the US, which lets you get a free game bundled with the latest Xbox, effectively giving the cheapest option to get a new console with Destiny.

Destiny finally lands next week, on September 9th for PS3, PS4, Xbox One and Xbox 360
