Wilshere is happy with Arsenal signing the forward from Manchester United
Speaking at a news conference whilst on international duty with England, Wilshere was asked about his England team-mate, who signed for Arsenal from Manchester United for £16 million on Monday.
Wilshere told reporters: "He's got great quality on the ball. A lot of people don't give him credit for his technical ability. He's fantastic on the ball and he's a great athlete so he's a great addition for Arsenal and hopefully he can keep performing for England as well."
Welbeck does get a lot of credit for his pace and his ability to get at defences but some have often questioned his ability in front of goal. There are times when he can come up with the odd classy finish, but there are other occasions when he has missed opportunities when he ought to have done better.
Wilshere was asked if he had any involvement in trying to lure the forward to the Emirates Stadium but said he didn't, and added that the name of Arsenal would get any player listening to what they have to say.
"I'm sure there were a few clubs that wanted his signature. There's not many players who move at that age from a big club to another big club, and that shows his quality. I'm sure if Arsenal come knocking, for any player they'll want to talk to them and see what they have to offer."
It seems as though Wilshere is happy to have his fellow England international in the side at the Gunners - whether his goal return will be the desired amount remains to be seen.
