Tottenham may miss out on target Fredy Guarin according TalkSport - who are citing reports in Italy that Real Madrid are ready to move for him in January.

Inter Milan are said to want £12 million for the midfielder, whilst forward Roberto Soldado was linked with a move to Italy in a swap deal. Chelsea were also said to be interested in Guarin.

TalkSport have also picked up on comments made by Erik Lamela, who claims he never thought about leaving the club, despite a poor first season in English football after his £30 million move from Roma, as well as speculation this summer.

He said: "I read a lot of things in the newspapers and perhaps there were a few enquiries from clubs, but I had no direct contact or doubts about my future.

"Last season was complicated for me because of injury, but I feel good now.

"And I have to thank Tottenham for their help and patience - they have always shown faith in me."

Spurs have announced the appointment of Ron Robson as a non-executive director with immediate effect, who has held several senior finance roles, according to the statement.

Chairman Daniel Levy commented on the appointment on the club's website, saying: “We are delighted to welcome Ron to Tottenham Hotspur. He brings with him expertise and experience in sectors relevant to our operations."
