Poleon basically saying that on Friday he expected to sign a new deal at Leeds and join Oldham on loan. By Monday night he'd been sold #lufc— Phil Hay (@PhilHayYEP) September 4, 2014
Dominic Poleon’s career at Leeds United came to an abrupt end when he was sold to Oldham Athletic earlier this week on transfer deadline day.
It was a move which surprised plenty of Leeds fans and it transpires that his career at Elland Road u-turned on itself in the space of four days.
Poleon was anticipating the offer of a new contract, which would have kept him at the club for the foreseeable future, before an expected loan move to Oldham for the coming season.
However, that contract offer was removed from the table and he was moved on in a permanent deal.
Poleon’s exit was one of the late pieces of business that kept Leeds fans up late on Monday after the club Tweeted that there would be some big pieces of news late into the transfer window.
“Over the weekend I got a call to tell me that Cellino was taking the contract away from me. I don’t know why. I’d agreed one thing but was being offered another and it was basically the case that if I didn’t sign it, I wouldn’t be going on loan to Oldham,” Poleon told the Yorkshire Evening Post.
Oldham have a very talented 20-year-old on their books despite the rather bizarre circumstances surrounding his arrival.
