Sony wait for the right moment to reintroduce The Last Guardian

The Last Guardian

The company confirm Team Ico’s long awaited return is still in existence

It’s been seven years since Team Ico’s latest game The Last Guardian was announced. Since then the game has been beset by holdups, not least following the game’s designer Fumito Ueda parting from Sony.

Fans can rest assured that the game is still in development however. Speaking to the French website Gameblog via PlayStationUniverse President of Sony's Worldwide Studios, Shuhei Yoshida has given hope for an update on The Last Guardian.

When questioned Yoshida confirmed that the game is indeed still in existence and that development is still underway on the project.

‘’Is The Last Guardian still in development? Will it be re-announced one day, and more importantly, can you share any news on it?,’’ asked Gameblog.

''There are updates, but these are internal, not external. The game still exists; the team’s working hard and it’s just a matter of waiting for the right moment to reintroduce it,’’ came Yoshida-san’s reply.

As to when the time is right to bring one of the greatest PlayStation titles that has never released back into the public eye is yet to be seen. Yoshida has already said it’s unlikely we’ll be shown The Last Guardian at the Tokyo Game Show.

Hope springs eternal.
