Richards headed for Fiorentina friendly debut

Micah Richards could wear a Fiorentina shirt for the first time in a friendly against Swiss club Lugano, according to reports in Italy.

Manchester City's longest serving player Micah Richards is likely to make the first appearance of a loan spell at Fiorentina tomorrow.

Richards joined the Viola on a season loan after a deal was agreed on deadline day and he has spoken of his excitement at getting the chance to experience Italian football.

It seems that the right-back won't have too long to wait to get his first run-out for Fiorentina with reports that he will be selected to face Lugano in a friendly tomorrow evening.

Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport suggests that coach Vincenzo Montella is looking forward to the chance to see his new recruit in action and may field Richards from the off.

There may also be a debut for fellow new boy Milan Badelj, a Croatian midfielder who signed from Hamburg in the transfer window.

Both Richards and Badelj are said to be fully fit and raring to go and the friendly will give them the chance to make a pressure-free start to life at Fiorentina.

The real action begins again in Serie A after the international break and Fiorentina host Genoa looking to bounce back from their 2-0 opening day defeat at the hands of Roma.
