Mario Balotelli may have arrived at Liverpool with a lot of baggage, but the Merseyside club’s fans have taken to him readily.
The Italy international was cheered on by the Reds’ supporters during his debut against Tottenham Hotspur at White Hart Lane on Sunday.
The 24-year-old failed to find the target, missed a number of chances and was substituted in the second half, but he gave an overall encouraging performance.
Balotelli’s link-up plays with Raheem Sterling and Daniel Sturridge were promising, and so were his off-the-ball movements.
During the Premier League match, Liverpool fans chanted 'Mario fantastico, Mario magnifico, ole ole, ole ole' , and now Balotelli has thanked them for their support by posting the following photo on Instagram with the message: ‘I love this song!!! Love it!!! Ole ole!!!’
Balotelli is under huge pressure to succeed at Liverpool. The Italian has featured for Inter Milan, Manchester City and AC Milan in his career, but he has yet to fulfil his full potential.
The striker has also been embroiled in many controversies in his career - both in Italy and in England - and needs to stay focused on his football at Anfield if he wants to make his Liverpool career a success.
