Is this Tottenham Hotspur's strongest XI? Dier, Lamela and more

Tottenham Hotspur have a squad which is capable of finishing at least fourth this season.

Tottenham Hotspur have endured a mixed start to the new Premier League season.

Spurs won their first two games but were brought quickly back down to earth with a bad defeat at home against Liverpool for the second season in a row.

Mauricio Pochettino’s team have already shown promise this season and with their strongest team available, they can give any of the rivals a good fight in the race for Champions League football.

We’ve attempted to name that side.

GK – Hugo Lloris

Arguably the best goalkeeper in the Premier League. Always looking for ways to lift the pressure from his back four.

RB – Eric Dier

Dier has been in great form since he joined the club from Sporting Lisbon. The Premier League doesn’t seem to bother him.

CB – Younes Kaboul

Kaboul creates an intimidating and experienced figure in the back four.

CB – Jan Vertonghen

Vertonghen is well suited to playing on the left hand side of central defence.

LB – Danny Rose

Pace and skill going forward, relatively solid in defence. His early season performances saw him called up to the current England side.

RM – Erik Lamela

He’s looked revitalised under the guidance of Pochettino.

CM – Etienne Capoue

Will most likely play the holding role for much of the season.

CM – Paulinho

Capable of running any game against any side when he’s on the very top of his game. A solid box-to-box player.

AM – Christian Eriksen

One of the best number tens in the league. He’s been consistent when used in a central position just behind the striker.

LM – Nacer Chadli

Seems to be the preferred option on the left for Pochettino and he’s done a decent job there.

ST – Emmanuel Adebayor

At the top of the pecking order compared with Roberto Soldado and Harry Kane.
