A selection of the latest stories involving Liverpool Football Club this Thursday morning.

Liverpool defender Kolo Toure has explained why he rejected a move to Trabzonspor this summer, despite knowing he'd be the fourth-choice centre-back at the club this season.

Dejan Lovren, Mamadou Sakho and Martin Skrtel are all ahead of Toure in the pecking order but the Ivory Coast international is enjoying being part of a great project at Anfield.

He told the Liverpool Echo: “I have one more year on my contract here and this is a great club.

“As a player, you want to play for great clubs.

“The time I’ve spent at Liverpool already has been amazing for me. We had a great season and I’ve had a great time.

“You always want to be part of a great team and I hope this will be another great season for Liverpool Football Club.”

Despite not expecting many opportunities at the club this season, Toure is confident he will be given an opportunity in the Liverpool side this season given the extra fixtures the side will have to play.

Midfielder Joe Allen has given an interview to Wales Online about both the national side and the Reds' title challenge last season - and commented on the progress the Reds made in such a short space of time.

He said: “To be disappointed not to lift the Premier League trophy at the end of the season is incredible when you think about it."

Raheem Sterling was voted man of the match during England's 1-0 friendly win over Norway at Wembley Stadium.

He was one of three Liverpool stars who started the game along with Daniel Sturridge and Jordan Henderson whilst Rickie Lambert made the briefest of appearances from the substitutes bench.
