Huddersfield Town have appointed former Charlton Athletic boss Chris Powell as manager.
After firing Mark Robins just one game into the Championship season, Huddersfield Town have finally appointed a new manager.
The Terriers announced former Charlton Athletic boss Chris Powell as their new boss, after a brief spell on the sidelines.
Powell led Charlton to promotion from League One, before being sacked in March with the club in the Championship relegation zone.
In his playing days Powell was a Premier League regular with Charlton and even became an England international.
Dean Hoyle, Huddersfield chairman, told the club's website: "He is personally highly motivated and we feel he will get the best from the players. His record demands respect and we think he is the ideal man to take this Club forward.
“Make no mistake – throughout the football industry, Chris is held in extremely high regard. This is an excellent fit with the Club and how we operate."
Huddersfield have seven points from their first five games, and sit one place outside the relegation places in 21st position.
Powell's first fixtures will see him take charge at home to Middlesbrough, and the Wigan Athletic, before an intriguing derby away at Leeds United.
Here is a look at how Huddersfield fans reacted on Twitter to his appointment...
I reckon Powell will get Scannell to play his best football at #htafc like Lillis has done in his two stints as caretaker boss.— Billo (@Billo20Four7) September 4, 2014
Chris Powell blocked Scannells move to Millwall. We should make a statue of him already #htafc— Marcus Haigh (@Marcus_19) September 4, 2014

Really impressed by Chris Powell today. Looks an excellent fit for #HTAFC. Sounds a lot like Sean Dyche but without the hoarse tones...— Sam Brydges (@sambrydges) September 3, 2014
Think Powell is a good fit for us. Class act as a bloke, always a tough game v his Charlton mob, young uns get a chance. Optimistic! #htafc— Richard Kosmala (@superkos) September 3, 2014
