Free agent XI: Former Chelsea, Tottenham and Manchester City stars feature

We take a look at some of the best options still available. Including a Liverpool target and former West Ham, Tottenham, Arsenal, Chelsea, Everton and Manchester City players.

The Transfer Window may have slammed shut on Monday, but that does not mean club's have to stop doing business. Here are some of the best free agents still available for transfer...

GK: Victor Valdes

Rejected a new deal at Barcelona this summer and was all set to join AS Monaco until they pulled out over fears concerning his serious knee injury.

Now expected to join Liverpool pending a successful medical next month, easily the best keeper on the market for nothing.

DR: Samuel Inkoom

This marauding right-back has almost 50 caps for Ghana and was a star at FC Basel. His move to Ukrainian side Dnipro in 2011 has not worked out and he became a free agent this summer.

Been linked with Premier League moves in the past, who might pick him up?

DL: Reto Ziegler

The ex-Tottenham and Wigan man has a great reputation in Italy for a spell he had with Sampdoria but has failed to play for Juventus since joining in 2011. A Swiss international who has also played for Lokomotiv Moscow and Fenerbahce he should not be ignored.

DC: Joseph Yobo

The 33-year-old Nigerian was a colossus when he first joined Everton but injury and age have not been his friends.

He struggled at Norwich City on loan last season and was released by Fenerbahce last week.

DC: Aleksandar Lukovic

How the Serbian remains unemployed is a mystery. He has been training with Red Star Belgrade to remain fit, but has ruled out a move back to Serbia.

Still only 31 and a former star with Udinese and Zenit, he would be a steal for many clubs.

MC: Elano

The former Manchester City maestro is undoubtedly talented. He is also notoriously mercurial.

He recently cancelled his loan contract with Flamengo because he did not like the club fans before being released by parent club Gremio last week.

MC: Wout Brama

A Dutch international, Brama spent the entire of last season injured at FC Twente. He has rejected several new deals at the Eredivisie side as he seeks a new challenge.

Now fully-fit and raring to go, he might be the best option in centre-midfield currently available for nothing.

MR: Cristian Bolanos

This guy makes it in based mainly on his excellent World Cup with Costa Rica. He left FC Copenhagen this summer and has been linked with Atletico Mineiro, Nottingham Forest and Al-Gharafa.

ML: Jonas

Not really a left midfielder but we had to squeeze him into the team. Released by Valencia last week the 30-year-old is one of the best free agents on the market and can play in a variety of attacking positions.

ST: Ronaldinho

Just off the front-man and it is the Brazilian legend Ronaldinho.

A move to Boca Juniors fell through and he is still seeking a club to end his career with. He was offered a deal by Basingstoke Town today, but he is likely to look elsewhere.

ST: Hugo Almeida

The Portuguese powerhouse trades in goals and would be a great option for any team after a striker on the cheap.

Leicester City have registered an interest but Almeida has confirmed a desire to stay in Istanbul, where he last played for Besiktas.

GK: Tomasz Kuszczak

Former Manchester United stopper a free agent after Brighton release.

DEF:  Julien Escude

One time Manchester United target left Besiktas this summer.

DEF: Emanuel Pogatetz

The Austrian international and former Middlesbrough and West Ham defender spent last term at FC Nurnberg, but was released this summer.

MID: McDonald Mariga

The Kenyan is the brother of Southampton's Victor Wanyama and has previously played for Inter Milan and Parma.

MID: Vladimir Koman

Hungarian international Koman was once considered one of Europe's hottest talents. It hasn't quite happened for him and he was released by Krasnodar this summer.

MID: Pablo Aimar

One of those naturally gifted players who never quite made it, the Argentine is a free agent after leaving Malaysian outfit Johur Darul Takzim.

Rumour has it he may retire because of injury problems

ST: Nicolas Anelka

Released by West Brom after his latest controversy, it would take a brave club to bet on this horse one last time.
