Former Tottenham Hotspur striker Helder Postiga has found a new club after being released on deadline day.

The journeyed career of Helder Postiga has taken another chapter, with the striker signing for Deportivo La Coruna.

The former Tottenham Hotspur striker found himself briefly without a club, after being released from his contract by mutual consent on transfer deadline day.

Valencia brought in strikers Rodrigo and Alvaro Negredo to compete with Pablo Alcacer up front.

It was too late to sell Postiga and teammate Jonas, and Valencia and the two players agreed to terminate the contracts.

Postiga has not taken long to find a new side, agreeing a deal with newly promoted La Liga side Deportivo La Coruna on Wednesday.

Now 32, the striker who once cost Spurs £6.25 million from Porto, and scored just one goal, is in need of a new challenge.

He was out of favour at Valencia in January and signed on loan with Serie A side Lazio, but did not score a single goal, making just five appearances.

Postiga has an impressive 71 caps for Portugal, with 27 international goals to his name.

Since leaving Tottenham for a return to Porto he has played for Sporting Lisbon, Saint-Etienne, Panathaniakos, Real Zaragona, Valencia and Lazio.

Deportivo drew their opening game of the La Liga season 2-2 with Rayo Vallecano last weekend.
