Arsenal morning news: Sagna left to 'boost career'; Giroud in 23-man squad

All the latest news and gossip from The Emirates Stadium this morning.

Bacary Sagna has spoken more about his exit from the club this summer. The French international left on a free transfer to join Manchester City, and was booed when the two teams went toe-to-toe in the FA Community Shield at the beginning of the month.

And he said:

Arsenal are, and remain, a quality side, but I can understand their fans feeling frustrated when they see players moving to other clubs. I am 31 and this was the right time for me to leave Arsenal. I wanted to see somewhere new, and to boost my career."

Sagna returns to The Emirates this Saturday.

The Transfer Window may have just slammed shut, but that has not apparently stopped Arsenal plotting for next summer. It is already being rumoured that the club are looking into the possibility of bringing Marco Reus into the club next summer.

The Borussia Dortmund man is believed to be a long term target for Arsene Wenger and is said to be available for £20 million in a years time. His buy-out clause kicks in at the end of the season and is believed to be keen on a move away from the Bundesliga.

However the likes of Barcelona, Bayern Munich and Manchester United will also make a move - so keep an eye on developments at Dortmund for the next 12 months.

Arsenal have named their 23-man Premier League squad.

New signings Alexis Sanchez, Mathieu Debuchy, Danny Welbeck and David Ospina are all included.

Olivier Giroud is also included, despite being out of action until the next squad revision in January.

Callum Chambers, Serge Gnabry, Yaya Sanogo, Gedion Zelalem and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain are not named as they are under-21.
