Arsenal fans react on Twitter as Sanogo scores twice for France under-21s

Arsenal's Yaya Sanogo found the scoresheet for France under-21s yesterday.

Arsenal striker Yaya Sanogo has perhaps unfairly been the target of criticism of late, largely due to being over-promoted into a position he is not ready for.

The young striker has been asked repeatedly to lead the line for the Gunners in key games, an FA Cup Final and Champions League clash against Bayern Munich spring to find, and is still searching for his first competitive goal.

A stunning four-goal salvo against Benfica in pre-season has not carried over in terms of form to the Premier League, with Sanogo having eight shots on goal and failing to score, despite the excellent service of Alexis Sanchez, Aaron Ramsey and Santi Cazorla.

The pressure on the Frenchman has been eased by Arsene Wenger moving to sign Danny Welbeck on deadline day in light of Olivier Giroud's injury, but it will remain until he breaks his duck for the aspiring title contenders.

The 21-year-old showed he is capable of finding the scoresheet yesterday, netting twice for France's under-21 side.

The quality of opponent, Kazakhstan's under-21s, means the strikes were little to shout about, both from close range in a three minute spell in the second half as the French won 5-1.

Nonetheless the hope is that rediscovering his touch in front of goal will give his confidence a lift at a crucial time for him and Arsenal, with it likely he will be asked to play a role in the upcoming games against Manchester City and Borussia Dortmund.

Seeing his name on the scoresheet certainly got fans talking, and here is a look at what they had to say via Twitter...
