Will Arsenal and Tottenham regret not signing Giovinco?

Juventus forward Sebastian Giovinco may have been available at a bargain price a few weeks ago, but now he's back in the Italy squad.

This may be the beginning of the Sebastian Giovinco renaissance and Arsenal and Tottenham may regret not grabbing him while they could.

Giovinco was widely tipped for stardom while he was in Juventus's youth system and he was a regular in Italy's Under-21 team before making 17 senior Azzurri appearances.

However, last season was a disappointing one for Seba, who was only used as back-up to Fernando Llorente and Carlos Tevez with Antonio Conte favouring a two-man attack.

The tiny forward's agent started to hint that a move might be possible and at the start of the summer when contract renewal talks weren't forthcoming and Arsenal and Tottenham were said to be eyeing him.

In the final hours of the transfer window it was suggested that Arsenal were ready to bid, but the chance had slipped away by then.

The arrival of a new boss at Juventus, Massimiliano Allegri, appears to have changed things for Giovinco, although he was only a sub for their season opening win over Chievo.

And there was a further boost for the Atomic Ant as he has been called up by Italy, now led by Conte, and is being tipped to start in a friendly against Holland.

The Italian press believe that Giovinco will partner Ciro Immobile in a 3-5-2 formation, which will be a massive chance to impress on the big stage and show he's still got what it takes.

If Giovinco steps up to the mark and can conquer a place in Juventus's starting 11 regularly then he certainly won't be back on the market in the near future, at least not at the price he could have been bought for this summer.

It may be that Arsenal and Tottenham look back and wonder whether they should have put down an offer while Giovinco was unsettled and out of sorts.

Italy (probable) v Holland: Buffon; Ranocchia, Bonucci, Astori; Candreva, Parolo, De Rossi, Marchisio, De Sciglio; Giovinco, Immobile.
