Tottenham Hotspur, Stoke City, Newcastle United, Chelsea, Liverpool, Arsenal and Swansea City stars all feature.

August was an important month for every single Premier League side as England’s top flight got under way for another season.

There has already been movement at the top and bottom of the division with Chelsea stretching out an early lead over their rivals as Manchester United continue their hunt for a first win of the campaign.

After assessing the stats from throughout August, we’ve produced our team of the month.

GK – Hugo Lloris (Tottenham Hotspur)

Tottenham Hotspur’s shot stopper featured in several key stats areas. He looks in fine form at the back of Mauricio Pochettino’s team.

RB – Eric Dier (Tottenham Hotspur)

Dier showed great professionalism for his age throughout August as he was used in different roles by Pochettino. He also bagged the winner against West Ham.

CB – Ryan Shawcross (Stoke City)

Shawcross was a key defender for Stoke in terms of making blocks and effective clearances. He was superb in the away win at Manchester City.

CB – Mike Williamson (Newcastle United)

Williamson was the most difficult defender to get the better of aerially, which made teams play on the ground against Newcastle, which was easier for their back four to contain.

LB – Cesar Azpilicueta (Chelsea)

The Spanish full-back is arguably the best in his position in the Premier League at the moment.

RM – Raheem Sterling (Liverpool)

Sterling has started the season in great form for Liverpool. He’s one of the best when it comes to exploiting the counter attack.

CM – Aaron Ramsey (Arsenal)

Rambo seems to have carried forward his form from last season, which bodes well for the middle of Arsenal’s team.

CM – Cesc Fabregas (Chelsea)

Fabregas looks as though he’s never been away from the Premier League. He had the joint highest number of assists last month.

LM – Nathan Dyer (Swansea City)

Three goals from the club’s first three games is a difficult stat to ignore. He’s been effective from the very start of the season.

ST – Wilfried Bony (Swansea City)

Garry Monk will be hoping that his conversion rate improves but Bony has been a constant threat already this season. He had the joint highest number of shots on goal.

ST – Diego Costa (Chelsea)

Costa has adapted to the Premier League easily. He’s shaken off an early injury worry and has a current tally of four goals from three games.
